“Trial by Jury: Disorder in the Court,” a comic opera in one act, will debut at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 27, on the Kahilu Theatre stage in Waimea.
The musical comedy, based on Gilbert &Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury,” is being produced by the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival (HPAF), Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra and Kahilu Theatre.
This musical is a story of a wedding gone wrong and a bride left at the altar who seeks revenge in court. The performance will be conducted by Kamuela Philharmonic’s Dr. Madeline Schatz and directed by HPAF’s Robin Buck, with cast and chamber orchestra from HPAF.
Buck is a critically acclaimed baritone, actor and professor at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California Irvine.
Waimea’s own Aidan Wharton will sing the lead role of the Judge, and the chorus will consist of singers from the community.
Soprano Erin Winker-Fasone plays the enraged bride.
