Waimea’s Rick Tramontin fired a 69 on Sunday to capture the 89th Big Island Amateur golf tournament at the Francis H. I’l Brown North Course at the Mauna Lani Resort.
Tramontion, who had a 74 in Saturday’s opening round, carded a 143 total in the Championship Flight to claim the prestigious title by six strokes over Dalen Yamauchi, a current University of Hawaii at Hilo golfer who had rounds of 74 and 75 for a 149 total.
Clayton Amuro (79-72) was third with a 151 total, followed in the top five by Jeff Strang (79-74) at 153 and Shon Kitahira (80-75) at 155.
In the Senior Flight, George Obana (75-77) claimed top honors with a 152 total. Aki Yamagishi (74-82) was second at 156 and Al Tanaka (76-81) third at 157.
In the A Flight, Eddie Nakaya (80-77) pocketed top honors with a 157 total. Willy Wilton (81-79) was second at 160 while Galvin
Fujii (79-82) and Steve Kimes (85-76) tied for third at 161.
