According to National Weather Service forecasts, each day this weekend is predicted to have at least an 80 percent chance of showers in Hilo, with similar rainfall levels predicted through the middle of next week.
A flash flood watch for the entire state will continue until 6 p.m. today. Residents are advised to be cautious when traveling through low-lying areas and to be on the lookout for road closures.
On Maunakea summit, meanwhile, a winter weather advisory also extends until 6 p.m. today. Scattered snow showers are expected until Saturday, when precipitation will turn to rain. The summit access road was closed to the public at press time due to hazardous conditions.
