KEALAKEKUA — A husband and wife each pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to slew of charges in connection to a reported police standoff in Hawi last month.
Britany C. Wolf, 28, and Lucas R. Wolf, 26, appeared together before 3rd Circuit Judge Melvin Fujino. After entering their pleas they requested a jury trial, which has been set for June.
Their arraignment and plea comes after the prosecutor’s office filed an indictment Feb. 12.
Britany Wolf is charged with two counts first-degree attempted murder of a law enforcement officer in connection with the Jan. 22 incident off Alaalae Road, in addition to 14 other charges.
Lucas Wolf was not charged with attempted murder, however, he faces a total of 15 charges.
On Thursday, defense counsel Ann Datta was standing in for Wendy DeWeese, who represents Britany Wolf. Datta asked the court to reduce her bail, which is set at $303,000.
Deputy prosecutor Chase Murray opposed the reduction saying Britany Wolf has loose ties to the state and is facing serious charges. A bail reduction was denied.
Lucas Wolf’s bail remains $26,000.
According to the Hawaii Police Department, the couple exhibited aggressive behaviors toward the owner of property they were living on when he attempted to evict them. Britany Wolf allegedly fired a single shot from a weapon but the 56-year-old property owner was not injured.
The department’s Special Response Team responded to the scene. As the incident continued, police say, Britany Wolf fired two additional gunshots, one of which struck the SRT’s armored vehicle.
