Jennie L.K. Anderson, 76, of Waimea died Jan. 14 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in North Kohala, she was a retired bus driver for Oahu Transit Services. Celebration of life 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 24) at Kahua Ranch, 59-564 Kohala Mountain Road, Kohala. Oahu visitation 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Kaneohe. Visitation again at the church at 10:30 a.m.-noon Friday, March 2. Mass at noon. Burial 2 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Survived by sons, Mark Marumoto of Las Vegas, Adam (Nancy Ko) Marumoto of Kapolei, Oahu, and Ryan Marumoto of Honolulu; daughters, Kimberly (David Benevidez) Kainoa, Mahealani (Michelle) Yamashita and Pamela-Jean (Kaena) Anderson Chip of Waimea; hanai sons, Kealoha Kepano of Washington and Maiken Cope of Honolulu; brothers, Gordon (Rose Marie) Kainoa of Emmett, Idaho, Godrey (Jonelle) Kainoa Sr. of Kawaihae and Darrell (Anna Mae) Kainoa of Emmett; brothers-in-law, William Maillard of Cochraton, Pa. and Harry Chong III of Georgetown, S.C.; sisters, Olinda Cazimero of Waimea, Carol Ann Abiley of Waipahu, Oahu, and Delilah (Gavin) Kaimana of Kawaihae; sister-in-law, Bernadette Kainoa of Kawaihae; seven grandchildren; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles “Fuchu” Tsutomu Hara, 88, of Hilo died Feb. 1 at Hawaii Care Choices’ Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, member of Lincoln Wreckers Golf Club, Piopio Bears, Hilo Badminton Club and other organizations. Visitation 9:30-11 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 25) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Irene (Kenneth) Nekoba and Susan (Clayton) Yugawa of Hilo; son, Jason (Norma Miguel) Hara of Keaau; sister, Jane Mitsuda of Hilo; sister-in-law, Violet Hara of Honolulu; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ellen Chiyoko Minaai Nakagawa, 91, of Hilo died Dec. 31 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired elementary school teacher, co-owner of the Seaside Restaurant and Aqua Farm and member of Hilo Meishoin Buddhist Temple. Visitation 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 24) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 4 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Susumu Nakagawa of Hilo; daughters, Cheryl (Wilbert Low) Nakagawa of Hilo and Linda (Mark) Laughlin of Portland, Ore.; sons, Colin (Sharon Beauchan) Nakagawa of Hilo and Kris (Janna) Nakagawa of Honolulu; sister, Ella Fujie of Hilo; nephews, nieces and cousins. Debbie Waters, 55, of Glenwood died Dec. 31. She was born in Hilo. Celebration of life noon on Sunday, Feb. 25, at Shipman Park pavilion in Keaau.
