Special Olympics swimming: West Hawaii Sharks excited and grateful for 2024 season
KAILUA-KONA — The Kona Community Aquatic Center (KCAC) is a special place to many in the community. It’s a gathering site where everyone — regardless of swim level — can escape reality and cool off from the West Hawaii sun by participating in almost any aquatic activity imaginable. Some pool ventures include two age-group swim teams, Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) swimming, BIIF water polo, another recreational swim team, water aerobics, keiki swim lessons and more.

In 2012, steam began to rise from beneath the cracked concrete of a telecommunication station at the summit of Pico Basile volcano on Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea, in western Africa. The steaming lasted several days and extended to two nearby summit craters.

Gwendolynmae Keonaona Kamanu, 70, of Kalapana died March 3 at home. She was born in Honolulu and was a bus driver for the former Bragado Bus Service and worked for the former Kalapana Drive Inn. Mountain View man arrested after violent domestic incident
Police have arrested and charged 41-year-old Stanton Anson Joaquin of Mountain View with various domestic-related offenses following a violent incident at a residence on Kaniela Road early Wednesday morning.

KSH baseball shuts out Pahoa
The Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i baseball team has been unstoppable so far this season, and claimed another victim, downing Pahoa High 11-0 as pitcher Shiloh Santos threw a no-hitter on Thursday afternoon at Walter Victor Baseball Complex in Hilo.

Born in Hilo, he was a in-studio broadcast producer for KPUA sports, DJ at KAHU radio, Kamehameha Schools cafeteria staff, owner and operator of his mobile disco, DJ at The Pali room and Breakwater nightclubs, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and The Ohuohu St. Kava gang.
