HONOLULU (AP) — The Honolulu 911 system is now functioning properly after the emergency system had been experiencing technical difficulties.
Police say a technical issue caused the system to stop working Thursday afternoon.
Hawaiian Telcom officials say the problem was fixed and the system was running smoothly by Thursday night.
Spokeswoman for the telecommunications company, Ann Nishida Fry, says Oahu 911 calls had to be routed to an alternative system during the disconnection.
Hawaiian Telcom officials are trying to figure out what caused the problem.
