John “Buddy” Alvin Souza, 79, of Pepeekeo died April 27 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, He was part of the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel kitchen crew, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, its Young Men’s Institute and Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.
