KEA‘AU — Business was booming for Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i football on Thursday night against Pahoa. The Warriors routed the Daggers 59-0 in Kea‘au. It was the second time KSH shut out Pahoa.
In the Warriors eighth consecutive victory, quarterback Adam Perry had another strong showing — completing 19 of his 20 attempts for 161 yards and three touchdowns — two to receiver Clay Ching and another to Shiloh Santos.
KSH’s running game was stout as usual, as senior star Xander Hoopai rushed for two scores. Perry also rushed for another touchdown.
Defensively, the Warriors notched their third shutout of the season. Kanoa Honda and Cole Wallker both secured pick sixes. With just one game remaining in the 2024 regular season schedule (7 p.m. Friday vs. Kohala at home), KSH is averaging over 40 points per game and allowing just over 10. The team is also posting nearly 330 yards of scrimmage offense per week — leading Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) Division II and second overall on the island.
The Warriors are primed to win BIIF DII at 8-0 in the field. The team is 9-1 overall.
Pahoa (1-6) next plays Kohala on Thursday night at Kea‘au High School.
Volleyball
Kohala girls volleyball beat Kealakehe in four sets Thursday night in Kapa‘au — 25-14, 25-19, 23-25 and 27-25.
The Cowgirls improved to .500 at 7-7, near the top-half of BIIF DII’s standings. They’ll take the floor again at 10 a.m. this morning against Kanu o ka ‘Aina at home.
The Waveriders (6-9) next play Kanu on Tuesday.
Kealakehe won the junior varsity match against Kohala on Thursday, winning in straight sets — 25-11 and 25-22.
Konawaena girls volleyball moved back up to the No. 2 spot (as of Friday afternoon) in BIIF Division I after a straight-sets win over Kanu on Thursday inside Ellison Onizuka Gymnasium — 25-11, 25-20 and 25-17.
The Wildcats moved to 11-1 on the season — tied with Hilo for second in their division behind KS-Hawai‘i. They additionally played the Dragons on Friday night in Honoka‘a town; see Monday’s paper to read the results.
Kanu (2-12) plays Kohala at 10 a.m. this morning in Kapa‘au.
