Born in Honolulu, he was a tree trimmer and treatment plant/pump station maintenance worker for the City and County of Honolulu, ranch hand and truck driver for Parker Ranch, chef at the Royal Waikoloan, truck driver for numerous trucking companies on the Big Island and Kauai, president of the Kona Bowling Association and board member of the State of Hawaii Bowling Association, red and black belt Kajukenbo professor and member of Waimea Annunciation Catholic Church.
