Rosita “Rose” Orio Benevides, 92, of Hilo died Jan. 5 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired packer for Amano Fish Cake Factory and member of Pepeekeo Senior Citizens, American Legion Unit 3 and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Manuel (Carla) Benevides III of Volcano and Clayton (Kristie) Benevides of Hilo; daughter, Joycelyn (David) Prudencio of Hilo; sister, Patsy Lizardo of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Melody Orio of Papaaloa, Marie Benevides of Hilo and Fanny (Richard) Gouveia of Kona; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
