The county will convert the intersection of Pikake and Kamani Streets in Pahala to a four-way stop.
A statement from the Department of Public Works said an all-way stop is being installed at the intersection “in response to community concerns to increase pedestrian safety at the intersection near Ka‘u High School and Pahala Elementary School.”
The work, which includes enhanced striping, pavement legends and signage, is tentatively scheduled to take place Jan. 21-24 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., weather and construction conditions permitting.
Thee will be traffic control officers on site during the work. Motorists are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
