Catch up on the whereabouts of the ʻalala with Rachel Kingsley, the education and outreach associate for The ‘Alala Project, during “Return to the Wild, Two Years Later: An update on the reintroduction efforts of ‘Alala” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus.
Through intensive conservation efforts, more than 20 ‘alala, the endemic and endangered Hawaiian crow, were reintroduced in native Hawaiian forests. Kingsley will provide information about this unique species, an update on the birds that were reintroduced, as well as plans for future reintroduction efforts.
The presentation is a great way to learn more about this highly intelligent and unique crow species, integral to native Hawaiian ecosystems and culture.
This evening is part of a once-a-month Thursday night series at VAC focusing on art, Hawaiian culture and the environment. The series is intended to inspire and enhance appreciation of art and life experience while fostering community connections.
The presentation is free, although a $5 donation is greatly appreciated.
