Cyril Lani Pahinui-Kahahawai, 68, died Nov. 17 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, he was a master slack-key guitarist and second-generation Hawaiian music legend, the son of Philip “Gabby” Pahinui-Kahahawai, and U.S. Army veteran of 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.
