Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Greenhouse Specialists Keaau, cultivation superintendent for the former Paauhau, Hamakua and Laupahoehoe sugar plantations, member of New Hope East Hawaii and U.S. Marine Corps captain during World War II and Korean War. M. Towill Corp., U.S. Army 442nd Regimental Combat Team World War II veteran, Bronze Star awardee, president of 442nd RCT Veterans Club, Hilo High School Class of 1941 alumnus and earned a B.S. in civil engineering in 1950 at University of Hawaii.
