Hearts and soles in Hilo

The Hilo Heart Walk, which attracted more than 800 participants, kicks off Saturday morning at Hilo Bayfront Park. The event raised more than $119,000 that will go toward innovative research, the fight for stronger public health policies and provide lifesaving tools and information to prevent and treat heart disease and stroke, Hawaii’s No. 1 and 3 causes of death. Contributions to the walk are being accepted through the end of March and can be made online at www.HiloHeartWalk.org.
