The Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) released its All-League teams for the 2025-26 boys soccer season Tuesday, highlighting another exciting season of premier play on the pitch.
Leading the All-BIIF Division I team was island champion Hilo High, which finished 10-2-1 overall with an impressive scoring margin of 59-16. The Vikings were spearheaded by senior midfielder Channing Oda being selected to the team, who took home DI Player of the Year honors. Oda, who already had a reputation for being clutch, scored the match-winning goal in the BIIF DI Championship against Kealakehe — scoring in the final three minutes.
“(Oda) is always very competitive and very determined,” Hilo head coach George Ichimaru said in an interview after the Jan. 28 match. “He carries the team through his work ethic and his ability to lead by example on the field — never giving up and keeping the team motivated. He’s come in clutch for us many times.
“He said, ‘we’re not losing today.’ He’s always giving that mindset.”
Oda’s teammates — forward Noea‘u Betts and backs Aiden Iida and Malu Andrade — were also named to the team.
Hilo made the state tournament, but fell in a close match to Kalani in the quarterfinals.
BIIF DI runner-up Kealakehe, which finished the season 6-4-1 with a state tournament appearance, had one selection — Dylan Cruz. The Waveriders had an impressive bounce-back season after missing the state playoffs a year ago. They fell 2-1 to Castle in the HHSAA opening round.
Kea‘au, which concluded the year 5-4-1 and made the conference semifinals, had a number of Cougars make the team — forward Ty King, midfielders Rayden Handy and Timmy Lira-Alonzo and back Uriah Dillon.
Konawaena was spearheaded by the selection of goalie Mason Pi, as the sophomore was the youngest player to be named to the team. His teammate, back Tavian Ramirez-Wong, was also named. The Wildcats finished 2025-26 with a 3-6-0 record.
Waiakea finished the year .500 (5-5-0), and senior Kolby Okutsu was named to the All-BIIF DI team as a forward.
Headlining the DII team was state runner-up Kamehameha-Hawaii, which had another dominant season. The Warriors advanced to the state championship match once again, but were shut out by Kapaa 3-0.
KSH went 11-2-2 with a DII island title over Hawaii Preparatory Academy. The Warriors beat Kalaheo 4-1 in the quarterfinals and Saint Louis 4-2 in the semifinals to reach the championship.
To almost no one’s surprise, senior striker Micah Chung was named DII Player of the Year after a phenomenal offensive season — scoring a state-best 20 goals, including two in the BIIF championship and three in the state tournament.
“(Chung) is our leader,” head coach Diego Gutierrez-Chavez told the paper after the Jan. 29 championship. “He’s definitely come a long way and understands his role of being a leader.”
Chung’s teammates — midfielder Gabriel Arquitola and backs Kanoa Honda and Thurston La‘a — were also named to the list. Honda additionally scored a goal in the BIIF title match.
HPA finished the season 8-5-0 overall and 7-3-0 in the conference. Finishing second in BIIF DII, forward Chazz Pagano, midfielders Zach Montgomery and Duke Waiau, backs Kauila Kapuniai and Matteo Larrua and goal Vasco Frietas were honored. Ka Makani posted five shutout wins across the season.
Like KSH, HPA also fell to Kapaa in the state tournament.
Rounding out the rest of the DII team were Makua Lani Christian Academy senior midfielder Gavin Pries and Honoka‘a senior forward Teejay Teo.
