The project, which is expected to cost slightly more than $2 million, is funded through the $16.2 million Risk of Closure Capital Improvement Project funding KCH received from the state, hospital spokeswoman Jane Clement said.
The resurfacing and paving of a currently grassed area between two sections of parking will create 18 new uncovered parking spots, Clement said. One additional spot will be created through “some rework of curbing and concrete,” she said.
Though patient and visitor parking will remain available throughout the project, drivers should expect to be rerouted to different parking areas as work progresses by traffic control personnel who will be on-site as needed.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work through this important project,” Clement said. “Our goal is to continue supporting every patient, every day by improving accessibility and ensuring a safe, welcoming experience for everyone coming to the hospital.”
Additional parking is available at the old courthouse lot just below KCH off Haukapila Street.
