The “Six Pillars of Brain Health,” includes exercises for the mind and body, foods that are good for brain health, and the importance of social connections. The pillars are based on recommendations for brain-healthy lifestyles from the Global Council on Brain Health.
Dr. Kazuma Nakagawa, chief of neurology at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, will share insights on brain health research and tips on how to keep your brain healthy through diet, exercise and self-care during the first online workshop on Jan. 28.
Another online workshop on brain healthy foods will be held on Feb. 12.
An in-person “Six Pillars of Brain Health” event will be held on in Hilo on Feb. 15 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross.
Space for the in-person event is limited. You don’t have to be an AARP member to attend, but participants must preregister by going to local.aarp.org/hilo-hi/ or the AARP Hawaii Facebook page.
Registration can also be taken by phone at (877) 926-8300.
