HONOLULU — The Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) girls basketball Division I and Division II semifinals concluded Thursday night, along with some of the consolation matches.
Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i lost in the DII semifinals, falling from title contention. Meanwhile, Hawaii Preparatory Academy and Kohala High met in the DII ninth place consolation round, Waiakea High played against Campbell in a DI consolation match and Konawaena High took on KS-Kapalama in the DI semifinals.
The Tribune-Herald was not able to obtain the Konawaena versus KSK score before the print deadline.

HPA VS. KOHALA
Ka Makani and the Cowgirls got to play a rematch of the BIIF DII semifinals during the ninth place consolation match on Thursday afternoon at Kaimuki High School.
HPA came away with the win, 53-34. Ka Makani’s Brooke Samura finished off her record-setting season with yet another excellent performance, leading HPA with 39 points.
Kohala’s Adriana Soriano led the Cowgirls with 20 points.
HPA entered the consolation bracket after falling 38-35 to Hawaii Baptist in the first round on Tuesday. In its first consolation match, Ka Makani crushed Lanai High 58-30 on Wednesday.
The Cowgirls also suffered a first-round loss, 44-32 to Farrington on Wednesday, then bounced back by beating Molokai High 59-43 on Wednesday.
HPA wrapped up the season 11-3, and Kohala ended 9-7.

KS-HAWAI‘I
The Warriors’ 13-game win streak came to a heartbreaking halt as Maryknoll rolled past KSH 48-34 in the DII semifinals at Kalani High School.
The Spartans established dominance early, leaving the Warriors behind 19-8 by the end of the first quarter.
KSH was forced to play catch-up for the rest of the game, and was not able to outscore Maryknoll until the second half — and by slim margins, 12-11 in the third frame and 6-5 in the fourth.
The BIIF DII champions’ journeys are not over, as they will have one last chance to make their mark — the third place consolation match tonight in Blaisdell Arena.
It will be KSH’s second straight trip to the DII state third place match — which the Warriors won last year, beating Hawaii Baptist Academy 55-43 after falling 37-35 to Hanalani School in the semifinals.

WAIAKEA
The Warriors fell out of the DI consolation tournament, suffering a 62-46 loss to Campbell High.
It was Waiakea’s second straight loss, as the Warriors entered the consolation after suffering a 69-66 loss to Lahainaluna High in the DI quarterfinals on Wednesday.
The BIIF DI runners-up finished their season 11-4.
