HILO — The two top squads in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) Division I soccer squared off on the pitch Friday — with Hilo edging out Waiakea 2-0 on the road.
Kryslynn Nabarro and Naliipoaimoku Harman scored a goal apiece for the Vikings, while Lindsey Hiraki logged an assist.
Now at 9-0-1 and atop of the standings, Hilo will next be tested against Waiakea at 2 p.m. Friday in its final match of the BIIF regular season. The Warriors (8-1-0) collected their first loss of the season, and will try to get back on track against KS-Hawaii at 3 p.m. Wednesday at home.

GIRLS: KSH 2 – KEALAKEHE 2
Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i and Kealakehe girls soccer tied 2-2 Saturday afternoon in Kea‘au.
The Warriors’ Alyssa Hudman and Rebekah Sipinga scored a goal apience, while the Waveriders’ Kayla Shand and Kiki Rivera scored one each.
At 3-0-3, KSH played Honoka‘a on Monday afternoon in a road match, with results to be shared in Wednesday’s paper. Kealakehe (3-5-1) plays Kea‘au at 2 p.m. today on the road.

KS-Hawai‘i’s boys team shut out Kealakehe following the girls match Saturday, spearheaded by William Henderson’s two goals. Iopa Quintana, Lucas Kay-Wong and Micah Chung also scored a goal each. The Waveriders fell for the first time this season.
The Warriors remain unbeaten atop the BIIF at 7-0-0, and will next host Makua Lani at 3 p.m. Saturday in Kea‘au. Kealakehe (5-1-0) will try to redeem itself against Kea‘au at 4 p.m. today on the road.

BIIF Division-I powerhouse Waiakea boys soccer made quick work of Makua Lani on Saturday at Old Airport Field — winning in a 9-0 mercy rule.
The Warriors were led by Aziah Nelson’s four goals, followed by Ito Doratt’s two. Sebastain Ortiz-Bloom, David Soares Jr. and Austin Mohica scoring one each.
It was the second time of the season the team has shut out the opposition in mercy-rule fashion.
Waiakea (3-1-1) played Parker on Monday at home, with results to be shared in Wednesday’s paper. MLS (0-6-0) will head to Parker to play the Bulls at 4 p.m. Wednesday in a road match.
The Lions forfeited their Monday match against Hilo.

Hawaii Prep girls soccer mercy-ruled Kea‘au Saturday afternoon on the road, improving to .500 on the season.
Kekai Lansdale secured a hat trick for Ka Makani, while sibling teammate Nohea Lansdale notched two goals of her own.
HPA (3-3-0) next plays Konawaena at 2 p.m. today at Julian R. Yates Field.

Kea‘au boys soccer edged HPA in a 1-0 win Saturday at home.
The Cougars (2-1-1) will next play Kealakehe at 4 p.m. today at home. Ka Makani (2-4-0) has lost two consecutive, and will try to bounce back against Konawaena at 4 p.m. today at Julian R. Yates Field in Kealakekua. The Cougars (0-9-0) will host Kealakehe this afternoon at 2 p.m.
