The state Department of Health’s Food and Drug Branch is warning residents about a recall on frozen fruit products sold at Walmart and Target locations due to a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in keiki, kupuna and those with a weakened immune system.

The voluntary recall was issued by Sunrise Growers Inc. over several products known as “365,” including the frozen Organic Tropical Fruit Medley, pineapple chunks, strawberries, blackberries, cherries and mangoes.

Sunrise Growers has notified its retail customers about the recall and has instructed them to remove any recalled product from their store shelves and inventories.

Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and/or diarrhea.

Consumers concerned about a potential illness should contact a physician.
