One man hospitalized, another arrested after Ocean View shooting

Police arrested a 47-year-old Ocean View man on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting Saturday afternoon in Ocean View that left a 32-year-old Ocean View man in critical condition.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Ka‘u patrol officers responded to a report of a man with a gunshot wound at a home in the 92-8000 block of Leilani Parkway. Arriving officers determined that the victim had been shot three times during an altercation between himself and a neighbor.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Kona Community Hospital where he was reported in critical but stable condition. He was expected to be medivaced to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu for further treatment.

The suspect, Thomas Allen of Ocean View, was taken into custody without incident by Ka‘u patrol officers shortly after 3 p.m.
