GREENWOOD, Indianapolis – Joshua Liu, Luca Matheiowetz, Julia Barden and Casydee De Mattos were named to the 2022-23 Men’s and Women’s Tennis Academic All-District Teams — which were announced Tuesday morning by College Sports Communicators.
The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have been a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and completed one full calendar year at their current institution.
Liu (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) is a sixth-year senior with a double major in Communication and Political Science.
Matheiowetz (Olching, Bavaria, Germany) is a Business Administration working on concentrations in both Finance and Accounting. Last year, the junior also earned CSC (formerly known as CoSIDA) All-District Men’s At-Large Team honors.
Juniors Barden (Toh Tuck, Singapore) and De Mattos (Hilo, Hawai’i) are both working toward degrees in Psychology.
Academic All-District Team honorees advance to the Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 1.

UH-Hilo baseball players Casey and Alec Yamauchi joined the Pacific West All-Conference second and third teams, respectively.
This season, Casey Yamauchi batted a career-best .404 — batting in 29 runs and hitting six homers.
Prior to this season, Yamauchi had not hit any home runs throughout his college career. The fifth-year senior utility player ended the season with a .932 fielding percentage, notching 68 put-outs and 111 assists
Alec Yamauchi batted .360 with 22 RBI for the season, and had a .947 fielding percentage.
