Police: Kamehameha Avenue and Pauahi Street now open

UPDATE: Kamehameha Avenue and Pauahi Street in Hilo are now open, according to police.

PREVIOUSLY:

The Hawaii Police Department advises you to avoid Kamehameha Avenue and Pauahi Street in Hilo due to flooding. Kamehameha Avenue between Ponahawai and Bishop streets is closed. Pauahi Street between Aupuni Street and Kamehameha Avenue is also closed, and will require a detour of traffic for the next 4 to 6 hours.

Motorists are being advised to detour using Waianuenue and Kilauea avenues.
