The Hawaii Parkinson Association’s biggest event will be held Sunday, Nov. 6, at Magic Island on Oahu.
HPA’s Annual Walk is the organization’s annual fundraiser that provides the resources necessary to accomplish its missions.
The Hilo Rock Steady Boxing group will be joining in the fun. RSB will walk under the banner of RSB Ohana and will walk in spirit with the main group yet remain at home in Hilo. The RSB Ohana group will be walking around Coconut Island and through Liliuokalani Gardens.
Anyone interested in walking can join the group at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the pavilion in Liliuokalani Gardens.

RSB, an exercise program based on training used by boxing pros and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease, offers classes all over Hawaii.
The program involves intense exercises, such as stretching, running, jump-roping, push-ups, balancing and lots of noncontact boxing led by experienced trainers/coaches.
RSB serves both men and women of all ages and levels of ability.
RSB members do not fight each other. They fight a single enemy: Parkinson’s disease. The “fighters” are exercising as hard as they can in a race against the clock to slow down the rapid progression of their incurable disease.
The RSB Hilo is coached by Jesse Ebersole and Curt Oishi, volunteer coaches who have been certified by the nonprofit RSB organization in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The RSB Hilo participants are also involved in the Hilo Parkinson’s Support Group.
The support group is a monthly forum that provides for people with Parkinson’s and their family members. At the meetings, they share experiences of coping with Parkinson’s, discuss current and investigatory therapies, and socially interact.
