More than 4,000 new COVID cases in last week

COVID-19 cases continue to increase in Hawaii, with more than 4,000 new cases reported in the last week.

According to Department of Health data, 4,249 new cases have been reported in the state over the last seven days, 565 of which were on the Big Island. By comparison, 3,370 new cases were reported over the previous week, 491 of which were on the Big Island.

The DOH has also reported 10 more COVID deaths in the last seven days, bringing the total statewide death toll to 1,428.

Over the last week, Keaau Elementary School has reported 16 COVID cases, according to the Department of Education. All other Big Island school reported no more than nine cases last week.
