Hilo man faces numerous drug charges

A 57-year-old Hilo man was arrested and charged for possession and the attempted distribution of methamphetamine, after Hilo Vice Section officers executed a narcotics search warrant Thursday at an Osorio Lane home.

Gilbert Thomas Jimenez is charged with attempted second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, five counts of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, being in possession of drug paraphernalia, and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

The most serious charges are Class B felonies that carry a potential 10-year prison sentence upon conviction.

Bail for Jimenez, who has two prior felony convictions, was set at $100,000, and his initial appearance was scheduled for Friday in Hilo District Court.
