The thefts took place along the Hamakua Coast between June and September. In all, about 1,500 pounds of fruit were stolen with a value of $5,000-$6,000. Stolen produce included durian, mangosteen, lemons, avocadoes and lychee.

“Agricultural theft is a serious crime and the department is committed in pursuing those who commit these crimes,” said Lt. William Derr of the Hilo Community Policing Section.

Anyone who knows the identity of any of these individuals or has information regarding agricultural thefts is asked to call Officer D. Abalos of the Hilo Community Policing Section at (808) 961-8849 or email at darren.abalos@hawaiicounty.gov.
