An average of 606 new cases have been reported daily Sept. 2-8.
Hawaii County has a 7.6% test positivity rate, compared to a 7% positivity rate statewide.
In the past 14 days, 368 infections have been reported in Hilo and 420 have been reported in Kailua-Kona.
During that same time period, 59 cases have been reported in Honokaa; 103 in Waimea; 72 in Kealakekua; 60 in the Captain Cook, Ocean View and Honaunau areas; 82 in Pahoa; and 107 in Keaau.
Eight deaths also were reported today.
One Maui woman, 50-59, was hospitalized and had underlying health conditions.
Two Oahu women, ages 30-39 and over 80, and four Oahu men, ages 50-79, also had been hospitalized and had underlying conditions. Another Oahu man with underlying health conditions, age 70-79, died at home.
Testing is available today until noon at Naalehu Hongwanji Mission, 1-5 p.m. at Kona Community Aquatic Center in Kailua-Kona, 2-5 p.m. at the Pahala Community Center and 1-3 p.m. at Pahoa District Park.
