The state Department of Health on
Wednesday reported 106 new cases of COVID-19 in Hawaii, including seven new cases on the Big Island.
In the last 14 days, 52 cases have been reported in Kona, 24 in Hilo, and 18 in North Hawaii, according to data provided by the DOH.
Hawaii County has a test positivity rate of 2%, compared to the statewide 3.2% positivity rate.
According to Hawaii County Civil Defense, three individuals are hospitalized, but no new deaths have been reported in the last two weeks.
“For your information, COVID-19 vaccinations have been occurring throughout our island, and distribution will be expanded in the coming week,” Civil Defense said in a message Wednesday. “Information will be shared soon on how to register and schedule an appointment, along with when and where vaccinations will be available.
“The news of the vaccine is very good, but please be aware we must rely on the preventative measures in place to keep us safe.”
Wednesday, 40,386 vaccines have been administered statewide, including 4,251 in Hawaii County, the DOH said.
According to the DOH, 73 cases were reported Wednesday on Oahu, 11 on Maui and two on Kauai.
Thirteen residents were diagnosed outside of Hawaii.
Three new deaths were reported, including a woman age 40-49 and a man, age 50-59, on Oahu, and a man, age 60-69, on Maui.
