Sunday’s eruption at the summit of Kilauea volcano was captured by one of the weather cameras at the Gemini Observatory on Maunakea.
The brightly glowing lava, as well as an erupting ash plume, can be seen in this time-lapse movie.
The true summit peak of Maunakea itself is directly in front, slightly obscuring the Kilauea caldera some 30 miles away.
