Beatrice Palenapa Kalai, 97, of Hilo died on Sept. 25 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired social worker from Waimano Home, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and St. George Catholic Church in Waimanalo. Funeral Mass 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Seating limited, masks and social distancing required. Casual attire. No flowers. Oahu services at later date. Survived by daughters, Relda Palenapa and Davenie Kupau; sons, Renny Kalai, Webster Kalai and Milton (Aloha) Kalai; 30 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; 73 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
