The Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island continues to assist the island’s most vulnerable and impacted populations with needed nutritional supplementation during the COVID-19 pandemic through the Community Meal Support initiative.
To help support this program, the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay recently donated $5,000 to the organization.
BGCBI has been able to produce, transport, and deliver over 40,000 hot meals that have benefited Hawaii Island children, kupuna, the homeless population and family households suffering economic hardship due to the pandemic.
All meals continue to be local dish items provided free of charge and are served Monday through Friday.
The Boys and Girls Club will continue to support the community for as long as they are able.
The club anticipates the continuation of the meal program through June and July, to support affected families and individuals during the summer.
