A Sunday night fire heavily damaged a home on Kehaulani Street in Hilo near the Hilo Municipal Golf Course.
According to a Hawaii Fire Department statement, seven units responded to the 8:22 p.m. alarm, with the first unit on scene four minutes later.
There were no occupants at home at the time of the fire, which rapidly spread from the front of the two-story structure and severely damaged the second floor.
The fire was reported under control at 8:42 p.m. and extinguished at 9:13 p.m.
The cause is under investigation.
