Richard Haruto Esaki, 84, of Kaneohe, Oahu, died Oct. 31. Born in Hilo, he was a retired civil engineer for the state Department of Transportation-Harbors Division. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary in Honolulu. Service at 10 a.m. No flowers. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Alice Nakaji Esaki of Kaneohe; son, Evan (Judy) Esaki of Kaneohe; daughter, Evelyn Esaki of Sammamish, Wash.; brother, Lloyd (Yukiko) Esaki of Pearl City, Oahu; sister, Ruth Miyahira of Hilo; three grandsons and a granddaughter. Mary Margaret Mico, 60, of Volcano died Oct. 30 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Wyoming, she was a receiving department worker for Hilo Walmart. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by life partner, Joseph R. Talon of Volcano; son, Rocco A. Mico-Talon of Volcano; daughter, Susan L. (Lunalilo H. Salas) Mico-Talon of Volcano; sisters, Roxy A. (Randy F. Wentworth) Mico of Mountain View and Frances McCurley of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Frances Velez Molcilio, 84, of Mountain View died Oct. 21 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, she was a cook and cleaning lady at Kahuku Ranch and candy shop worker at Naalehu Theater. Services 10 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 23) at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Kahuku Unit. Western attire with a splash of red. Survived by daughters, Yvonne (Jr.) Souza of Waikoloa, Debbie Molcilio and Valerie (Phil) Silva of Mountain View; Latty (Jr.) Vierra of Kailua-Kona; sister Beatrice Velez Walker of Oregon; 22 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. William “Billy” Paul Shackelford, 66, of Hilo died Nov. 9 at home. Born in Arlington, Va., he was retired from U.S. Airways and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 21) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 6 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Gay Covington; brothers, Thomas Shackelford and Michael Shackelford. Kathryn M. Vierra, 88, of Keaau died Oct. 12. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired Spanish teacher for the state Department of Education. Celebration of life to be announced at a later date. Survived by sons, Arlan (Vicki) Vierra and Darryl (Maureen) Vierra; daughters, Holly Vierra and Sheryl Vierra; grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
