Police seek suspect in HPP shooting

Police are seeking leads on a 31-year-old Puna man they described as “armed and dangerous.”

According to a Tuesday morning statement, Kamanaokaaina “Mana” Nakooka is wanted for questioning in connection with an early Monday evening shooting on 15th Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park that hospitalized a 41-year-old man.


Nakooka is described as part-Hawaiian, 5-foot-11 inches tall, 260 pounds with heavy build, black hair and brown eyes.

Police say the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and remains in stable condition.


Police caution the public not to approach Nakooka who is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the incident or Nakooka’s whereabouts is asked to call the police nonemergency line at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
