The Scene: If you build them up, they can run

Tribune-Herald file photo Runners don’t just jump out of bed, hit the pavement and finish a marathon. They build there way up to the 26.2-mile race, which is a concept being pushed by Big Island International Marathon race owner Bob Wedeman. He’ll host 10K, 20K and 30K runs leading up to the BIIM, which is March 15 of 2020. The 10K goes off Aug. 25, starting at Hilo Bayfront.

It happens every year, he lures them in and manages to hook a couple into his grand scheme.
