A motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in a collision with a car May 16 in Waikoloa.
He was identified as 38-year-old Jessie Lee Stacy of Waikoloa.
Officers responding to a 5:16 p.m. call determined that a white 2018 Nissan Altima driven by a 61-year-old California man made a left turn from Waikoloa Road onto Uluwehi Street and collided with a westbound (makai-bound) blue 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Stacey was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He was later airlifted for further treatment to the Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, where he later died Sunday.
The driver of the Nissan and a 60-year-old woman passenger in the sedan were not injured in the collision.
Police are investigating the collision as a negligent homicide case and are asking potential witnesses to call Officer Jason Foxworthy at 326-4646, ext. 229, or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
Stacey’s death is the 11th official traffic fatality this year compared to 14 at this time last year.
