Kittens, puppies and forever friends

  • Fox terrier and chihuahua mix Aku, 11, was another dog available for adoption Saturday during the Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary adoption event. Aku loves to cuddle and go for walks. He would be a great match for a dog-loving kupuna.

  • One-year-old Milo, a Manchester terrier and whippet mix, was one of the dogs available for adoption Saturday during the Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary adoption event.

  • Cousins Bliss Kekaualua, 7, and Melanie Savella, 7, hold Obie, a 10 week-old healer and pit bull mix puppy, Saturday during a Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary adoption event at Aloha Paws in Hilo.

  • A kitten slurps down some formula Saturday during the bottle-feeding kittens and puppies class in Hilo.

  • Natasha Hughes holds a kitten while talking Saturday about the wrong and correct ways to feed puppies and kittens. Hughes presented the information during a bottle-feeding kittens and puppies class at 1438 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo. The class helped to ready participants to be volunteer foster parents for baby animals through Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary. Contact the sanctuary at 982-5110 for future classes.
