Fire destroys Volcano home

Fire destroyed a home on Lanihuli Road in Volcano late Wednesday night, the Hawaii Fire Department said.

Eight units responded to a 11:24 p.m. alarm.

The first unit arrived about 11 minutes later to find the two-story, 1200-square-foot structure fully involved in flames.

All occupants and pets got out safely with no injuries.

The Red Cross was advised about the displaced occupants.

The house and its contents were a total loss, estimated at about $180,000.

The scene was turned over to fire investigators, who are working to determine the cause.
