East Hawaii residents have an opportunity to be part of new Rotary club.
The Rotary Club of South Hilo is sponsoring a new “satellite” club designed for busy people who want to participate in community service projects. The club is “project-based” and meets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at WikiFRESH in downtown Hilo.
“Hilo Rotary clubs have either lunch or breakfast meetings, making it difficult for younger professionals to attend, so a ‘pau hana’ club makes perfect sense,” said South Hilo Rotary Club President Benson Medina. “The main purpose of the satellite club is to support Rotary community service projects in East Hawaii.”
“The atmosphere will be more relaxed than traditional Rotary meetings, with lots of time for networking and socializing,” he added.
Rotary International is a worldwide service organization with more than a million members in 35,000 clubs.
