The polar regions, north and south, are some of the most challenging places to travel, work and photograph. Snow, freezing rain and cold weather all challenge photographers and their equipment.
These regions are some of the most wondrous and beautiful places on earth. Isolated and at the mercy of mother nature, animals survive and indeed thrive, allowing visitors to see nature in a very intimate way. The climate, fauna and the amazing landscapes produce startling opportunities for photographs.
King will talk about solutions to some of the problems of photography in the polar regions — some of which are common to Hawaii as well.
He will show and comment on photographs that he has taken over several summer seasons that he spent working in these regions on various polar adventure travel expeditions.
