The housing assistance announced Tuesday is provided through the HUD’s Section 811 Mainstream Housing Choice Voucher Program.
“Expanding mainstream housing assistance for people with disabilities is a vital and cost-effective measure that reduces homelessness,” said Regional Administrator James Stracner in a HUD news release. “With this targeted investment, HUD provides stable and affordable housing for people who may be homeless or at-risk of homelessness or institutionalization.”
The award adds to initial investments announced in September, which included $99 million to hundreds of public housing agencies across the country and benefiting over 12,000 people with disabilities.
