Maximo B. Hernando, 86, of Keaau died Oct. 21 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born in Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a retired laborer for Hawaiian Phoenix Nursery and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Nov. 1 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again from 9-10 a.m. Nov. 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers welcome. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park Ilima Section. Survived by wife, Martina Hernando of Keaau; sons, Reynaldo (Incarnita) Hernando and Roger (Teresita) Hernando of Keaau; daughters, Rosemarie (Wilfredo) Justo, Janette (Fred Care) Hernando and Rosevilla (Joseph) Ramones of Keaau; brothers, Sam Hernando of Honolulu and Oscar (Elsie) Hernando of Keaau; stepmother, Eulalia Hernando of Keaau; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Julia Kaulaloa Duarte Luat, 88, of Kealakekua died Sept. 11 at home. Born in Kainaliu, she was a retired housekeeper. Celebration of life at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 at Old Kona Airport Park Events Pavilion. Vinora Iva Pulgados, 78, of Pepeekeo died Oct. 11 at Hawaii Care Choices. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again from 9-10:30 a.m. Nov. 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, with celebration of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
