The nonprofit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center is hosting a free talk from noon-1 p.m. Thursday in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney as part of its “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series.
This month’s speaker is Koh Ming Wei on the topic “Growing Peace in the Light of Climate Change.”
“Many people face anxiety when dealing with climate change. It’s overwhelming and we are told we are running out of time,” Koh says. “I will share some positive, hopeful solutions happening in the heart of a deeply affected area, the low-lying atolls of the Freely Associated States of Micronesia and in Hawaii.”
In this talk, learn tools to create and find peace through community resilience actions.
Koh holds a Ph.D. in sustainability education and is interested in how different cultures and indigenous communities work with nature to resolve ecological and social challenges through community partnerships, agriculture, music and art, and place- and project-based learning. Her work includes how the school garden experience is conducive to teaching core subjects.
Ku‘ikahi’s Brown Bag Lunch Series is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch, enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session and meet others interested in “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.”
