Hilo golfers at IMG tourney fight on
The four Hilo golfers at the IMG Academy Junior World Championships have discovered that talent stretches around the globe.
Pono Yanagi, Lacey Uchida, Dysen Park, and Jake Otani couldn’t make up much ground after the third round Thursday against their respective leaders.
Yanagi is tied for 119th place after he shot an 8-over 80 for a three-round 233 total in the boys 15-18 division.
The Kamehameha junior is 34 shots back of co-leaders Devondeep Bling, of Thailand, and Sam Choi, of Anaheim, Calif.
Uchida is tied for 55th place after her 5-over 77 for a 231 total in the girls 13-14 division.
The Waiakea freshman is 24 shots behind Japan’s Riona Higa, who carded a stellar 7-under 65 in the third round.
Dysen Park is in 59th place after his 4-over 76 for a 225 total in the boys 11-12 division.
The seventh grader is 22 strokes behind San Jose’s Anton Ouyang, who had a 4-under 68.
Jake Otani is tied for 101st place after he had a 9-over 81 for a 260 total in the boys 9-10 division.
The fifth grader is 49 strokes back of Thailand’s Ratchanon Chantananuwat, who fired a 1-over 71 on the tourney’s second day.
Co-ed Biddy youth basketball league
A meeting for P&R Co-ed Biddy Basketball for ages 5-6 and 7-8 will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 25 at Andrew Gym.
All interested teams must send a representative. League play begins in mid-August with games Monday through Thursday at Andrew Gym.

Honokaa High tryout dates for BIIF sports
Honokaa will hold tryout dates for the following BIIF sports:
• Football: Monday, July 17 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Meet at the varsity football locker room.
• Girls volleyball: Monday, July 3 from 3 to 5 p.m. Meet at P&R complex gym.
• Boys and girls cross country: Monday, Aug. 7. Meet at 3 p.m. at V-Building locker room.
All interested athletes, Grades 9-12, are required to have a completed physical and parent consent form.
In order to participate, athletes should come dressed to participate. Forms are available at the main office, athletic trainer room and the athletic director office in the gym. For more information, call 775-8800.
