Kehena Beach in lower Puna remains open this afternoon after a swimmer reported being bitten in the ankle, according to an email from a spokeswoman for the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
“Still investigating. So no signs posted at this remote beach area,” the email from Deborah Ward stated.
The man reportedly told firefighters he never saw what bit him, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment of a small gash.
