Robert “Bobby” Fujimoto, retired chairman emeritus of HPM Building Supplies, will be honored during the 20th Pacific Tsunami Museum fundraising dinner for his longtime support of the museum.

The event is scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel and will feature a silent and live auction. The silent auction begins at 5 p.m. followed by the program and dinner at 6.

The program includes a re-enactment of Juliette Kono’s “Tsunami Years” and Puna Taiko will perform a tsunami song.

Fujimoto served on the museum’s original board of directors.

“Bobby has always been there for the museum,” said board president Jim Wilson. “From the very beginning, when asked to serve on the original board, he believed in the museum’s mission of education and outreach programs.

“His own experience of having to rebuild twice from the 1946 and 1960 tsunami that totally destroyed HPM demonstrates his patience, strength and endurance to deal with the challenges of tsunami destruction.”

Individual tickets are $75 each, which include dinner, and can be purchased at the Pacific Tsunami Museum.

Sponsorship tables also are available.

Contact the museum at 935-0926 for tickets and sponsorship information.
