The Hilo Downtown Improvement Association sponsored a beautification day Aug. 9 in Downtown Hilo. Planter boxes were painted and the green areas were cleaned and pruned. Organizations that partnered to work that day included HomeStreet Bank, American Savings Bank, Hawaii County Highways Division and Hilo Ace Hardware. Future beautification days are being planned.
